1st Anniversary of Cosmetic Lotro

I find it hard to believe but today is the 1st Anniversary of my blog! A good moment to look back on my first year of creating outfits for my characters in the Lord of the Rings Online.

When I started getting seriously interested in the possibilities of outfitting, the Wardrobe function had just been introduced by Turbine a few months prior. Even though the Wardrobe was more restricted than it is today, it opened up a whole new world of playing around with my characters. Looking for outfits and information on the internet, I stumbled upon Devonna’s blog Lotro Stylist, and decided that blogging about outfits would be a great way for myself to express my creativity in this area. Rather than posting guest outfits on her blog, I started my own. One thing led to the next and before I knew it I found myself creating new outfits all the time.

I’d like to look back through my archives and highlight some personal favorites of the past 12 months, sharing some comments and insights as I progressed through this outfitting adventure.

Blog update: How to …

I’ve updated my guide about cosmetics and outfitting, and split it up into different subsections.
The “How to …” guide will now explain various aspects of outfitting in written text, and uses a drop down menu from the main blog bar.
It’s just a small update, but I think it makes things a little clearer and easier to find.

Isengard release notes of cosmetic relevance

I’ve gone through the Isengard release notes and copied the parts that I think are of importance to the cosmetic side of the game. I have not found any mention of changes to the Robe of Viisaus but I’ll have to wait until I can log in to check what has happened to it.

  • Players are now able to place any piece of armour into the wardrobe, even if they cannot wear it.
  • Vendors will now restrict the sale of Reputation and Glory specific items. As a player you will still be able to see all available items but will not be allowed to purchase the item unless you meet the Reputation and Glory required to use it.
  • The Isengard cosmetic armor and pocket item can now be restored to the player using the /reclaim command.
  • The Cloak of the Westfold (Isengard pre-order item) appearance has been adjusted to be whiter.
  • Cloak of the Peacekeeper has had its appearance fixed.
  • The super-sized shield Frothskold is now normal sized for a light shield.
  • There were some crafted cloaks that did not support all of the available dye colors. These cloaks have been corrected to do so.
  • Examining items from links in chat windows should now properly include dye and crafter info.

I’m very happy about the Cloak of the Peacekeeper! Kudos to the players that bugged it over the past year or so. Shame about the shield though, I always thought hobbits with that shield looked awesome. :(
