Share your outfits!

No fancy outfit in this post, just a long update with musings about this blog and myself!

Usually blogging is all about writing clever walls of text or funny bits of odd information. My blog however, is all about pretty pictures.  In real life, I am a collector of miniatures. I make little “scenes” and “displays”. I have a beautiful collection of fantasy sculptures (I own a good chunck of the Hap Henriksen Wizards collection), and I also have a semi neglected dollhouse that needs fixing up with an infinite amount of miniatures to fill it. Another one of my passions is scouring for vintage clothes, bags and accessories. I do buy new clothes of course, but my real passion is rummaging through massive amount of second hand clothes and come home with an outfit that looks special. I tell you this about myself to give you some context about what drives me to be so passionate about outfitting and this blog. Actually what I am doing in the virtual world are the same things I also do in real life: I combine loose ends into outfits and I display them in little miniature scenes.

To this end I really like the format of this blog’s theme. It displays my outfit pictures like little miniature windows that you can look through and enjoy the scenery of. However much of the format of this blog is restrictive. This means that if I want to add some features or change the layout, I would have to switch to another theme entirely. This is technically not at all dificult to do, but in terms of how I create my posts and the size of my pictures it does require a bit of adjustment. Nevertheless I consider some of the features I am looking for of such importance, that I have decided to start making some changes in the near future. I am very busy working my fulltime job and taking care of my family these days, so I have no idea when I will have time to do this, probably somewhere during the coming weeks. So please bear with me while I remodel my blog one step at a time!

One of the features I really want added is a place for my readers and blog fans to share their own creations. In the early stages of this blog, I consciously made the decision to make this blog a place for my own creativite expression. I did not want to mix that with guest outfits and posts. Not because I don’t enjoy other people’s creations (quite the contrary!), but because I see this blog as my own virtual dollhouse if you will. Still, I do like to look at other people’s outfits because different ideas and combinations inspire me to no end and trigger my own imagination. So in order to be able to make this blog a little more interactive in terms of sharing outfits, I have created a Flickr group where you can post your outfit screenshots. Anyone who has created an outfit that they are proud of and would like to share with the community is wholehartedly invited to post their screenshots to this group. You will need a Flickr account to post them, as you need to upload them to your account before you can add them to the group pool. I have started off the pool with some screenshots of myself that never made it to blog posts.

In closure I want to end these reamblings with a big thank you to all my followers who deem this blog worthy of a visit every week. I never thought that so many of you would be following my outfitting successes and failures with so much enthousiasm. Thank you for all your kind comments and encouragement, and thank you to all who have linked and mentioned this blog on other blogs, forums and websites.

Now, don’t forget to add your own outfit screenshots to the pool at http://www.flickr.com/groups/cosmeticlotro/!

  1. Love the idea, I love your outfits, and seeing yours and Devonna’s (sp?), has made me want to play more with outfits, but I don’t think they are nowhere near as good as what you two (and some of the others) do. But this now gives me an opportunity to dabble a bit more!

Wonderful Idea! As a tailor who hopefully will increase with skill levels, I applaud your great idea. Having to spend points to keep opening up new wardrobe slots and buying more space to load in more clothes/armor, I find that you have really hit a nitch here. Having not really roamed to far south in the trollshawls or to much into the great frozen north, I am thankful for your hints.
