Cosmetic Lotro

Golden Splendour

The 4th Anniversary celebration of Lotro is not as successful as previous anniversaries have been. There are lots of nice cosmetics, very special maps, and a unique anniversary horse available, but all these items require a lot of anniversary tokens to buy and there are really very limited ways to obtain those tokens. This puts most of those items out of reach of the casual players. In terms of my own situation, being a casual and non-pvp oriented player I have avoided the bar fight, but this implies that I am only able to obtain tokens from the horse races. On top of that I play on the European Codemasters servers and unfortunately the EU is excluded from the lotteries that enable US players to acquire some extra tokens. I am still hoping I will be able to collect enough tokens to get the horse somehow.
I had already resigned to never being able to obtain the robes and cloak, until a very generous player on my server offered to “loan” them to me. In fact, he extends this offer to the entire server and even announces it on the forum and in /globallff for anyone who would otherwise miss out.
Thank you Torii from the Snowbourn EU server! Thanks to you I am now able to wear these robes without ever having lifted a beer mug! You truly set an example for our community.

I left the robe in its default state as dyeing doesn’t improve it at all. The only thing I added are some Mirkwood minstrel shoulders as a finishing touch. I have my woman loremaster modeling the robe as I think it best suits a woman and looks rather plump on an elf. When the cloak is used on a hobbit it has the regular long cloak length, on man and elf it is shorter.

Chest: Silk Robe of Golden Splendour, default white dye

Shoulders: Songmaster’s shoulders, sea blue dye

Feet: Elven Leather Boots, white dye

Back: Cloak of the Shining Star,  white dye

Wow, what a nice thing to do for the community! Very awesome of Torii. I love this robe. I really think it’s very pretty.

    • It’s a wonderful gesture and it’s sad that there is no “normal” way (like in the other festivals) to obtain it. I like the robe too on a woman, but the colour scheme remains quite awkward to work with. It looks very pretty in its original white though. I really hope you will be able to find a similar deal on your server, or get very lucky in the lotteries and win them all!

My husband graciously shared the silken dress with me. I dyed it gold, which looks pretty good; the two shades of gold provide a bit of contrast/depth while upping the glamor ante slightly.

Once I buy some sea blue dye, I was thinking of using that as well; it looks nice in the dressing room, but the small window is deceptive sometimes.

After seeing those shoulders in various posts of yours, am I ever wishing we could cosmetically equip cross-class! My elf guardian is JEALOUS.

    • I know how you feel! But sometimes I am jealous of Captains and Guardians too! I don’t have those, I simply cannot have every class, much less do instances with them all, I am merely a casual player. I think the Silken dress indeed looks nice in gold dye!

Found you through CTSM and am loving the tips so far. :) I like playing dress up with my chars and it’s nice to see someone else doing the same, and using mix and match techniques too. :D

This particular outfit is very pretty, and that robe is one of very very few actual WHITE white cosmetics in the game, but I’m struggling with getting the Celebration Of The Grind tokens so may not end up with any item. I also prefer the look of the dress to the robe but have mainly mail characters so I’m not sure which to pick now if I do get enough. :D It’s a conundrum. ;)

I like the cloak too, but does it come in a full length version? The short one looks a little strange on a tall character. :)

BTW it’s nice to see you have the robe on a female character that still has a female body shape. I saw some screen captures of people who put it on a girl and suddenly they had a male physique. Good they fixed that particular bug ;)

    • Just yesterday I did a dressing room preview of the cloak on my female Elf, and suddenly it had full length! Maybe it’s a bug in the dressing room, I haven’t tried it on her yet, but it’s weird that it would be half length on a woman and full length on an elf? It is full length on a hobbit. I’ll check my elf again later to make sure.

There are some cloaks that don’t show right in the dressing room. I’ve sent a ticket before about this, showing my character in the character panel, visible on-screen and in the dressing room wearing the same cloak, and the dressing room had a completely different design on it.

I managed to get one of these today off a friend who lent it to me to put in my wardrobe.

It looks nice, but my boobs are gone! Chest goes out to where boobs should be, but then it doesn’t cinch back in underneath like every other outfit I wear on that girl. It’s quite strange. From the side, she’s also chunkier.
